Formula A
This is our first year of taking part in the Formula A class. Nicky Taylor our Formula Blue driver from 2006 has struggled so far throughout the championship due to a lack of testing and race budget; however racing against the best drivers from throughout the UK has proved invaluable for Nicky in his development. Nicky will compete in one more round of the championship at the Warden Law race circuit before concentrating on raising a race budget and testing of the new KF1 PCR Windfire engine for the 2008 season.
Formula Blue
We returned to the Formula Blue Class for the one off 'Gold Cup' meeting televised on the Motors TV channel. Despite setting the pace throughout testing with driver Nicky Taylor, including setting times under the current lap record race day was a different prospect. A good drive from the back of the grid in Pre Final resulted in a 2nd place finish in the Grand Final which was a disappointing result after setting the pace the majority of the weekend.
Paul Phelan who has also been racing the Formula Blue class at the MBKC championship still leads the championship after 8 of the 12 rounds. Some technical changes to his engines will hopefully result in Paul extending his championship lead in the remaining rounds.
Rotax '0' Plate
The LTW racing team took part in its first Rotax races of the year at the Rotax '0' plate championships held at the Whilton Mill race circuit. Despite undertaking no testing this year we managed to take 2nd place in the Rotax 177 class behind the current British Championship leader which was a good result for the team after completing no testing in the class all year. A full campaign is ahead for the 2008 season.
Plans for the rest of the season….
Testing will soon be taking place with the KF PCR Windfire engine ready for the 2008 season. Development continues to take place with the PCR Advance chassis both in the UK and in Europe. The team will also be looking at competing in the DD2 class for 2008.
We are also continuing to negotiate with new partners to help expand the race team and to help develop the team into new areas.
The team are on the look out for new drivers for the remainder of the 2007 season in preparation for the 2008 season.
